Sconex is another high school social networking site that was launched in 2004. Among its features is a directory of high schools. It also offers social networking service where users can post class schedules, pictures, and journals. The exclusivity of Sconex to high school age students made it an instant hit among the teens. They log on to site to read about their school, classmates, talks with friends, etc. Joe Presby co-founded Sconex, an MIT junior, majoring in electrical engineering and computer engineering. His idea was to create a social networking site inclusively for high school students. Presby said that unlike other sites, Sconex would-be members are asked questions to verify their identities, if they are truly high school students. Presby sold Sconex for $1.65 million to Google. Presby said that he would create more website in the future.
